Portfolio
I created my first website in 1997, which was a mix of a personal homesite and information from the PhD that I’d then started. In 2001 I was trained in Dreamweaver, and have since put my skills to good use. I can add particular value through a focus upon the audience of the site, designing a workable structure, and providing good written and visual content. I am currently developing a business model using WordPress. I was an early adopter of social networking and seo, in which I continue to develop my expertise. Below is a list of sites I have worked on, with more recent iterations at the top. As a historian, I love to see the old designs, and how things have changed!
2011 is largely a continuation of what I have listed below, which I need to polish!

For a well-structured site, a lot of planning is involved. There can also be other issues to resolve, such as copyright, privacy and other matters, which can be time consuming. I draw up a ‘web brief’, which outlines the requirements for the site, including the audience focus, the keyword focus, site structure (including how the pages inter-link) and content to include.
